Manufacturing Assistant supports daily operations in a precision machine shop by assisting machinists production personnel and other departments as needed. Responsibilities may include but not limited to material movement job preparation basic part finishing machine and facility housekeeping basic equipment maintenance and other general shop activities. Wil help maintain an organized safe and efficient production environment materials parts and jobs move through the manufacturing process accurately and on schedule.
Essential Functions:
• Pull stage and return raw material and work-in-process (WIP) to the correct machine or work center according to the daily production schedule.
• Move parts between operations including machining deburring inspection cleaning and packaging while ensuring each job remains with its traveler and required paperwork.
• Verify quantities at each job handoff and immediately report discrepancies to the supervisor rather than passing incorrect quantities or documentation downstream.
• Assist machinists and setup technicians with loading and unloading parts fixture changeovers tool staging and other job-preparation activities.
• Perform basic deburring edge-breaking sanding and hand-finishing operations according to established work instructions.
• Check and maintain machine fluid levels including coolant and lubrication oils to support proper machine operation.
• Organize monitor and maintain inventory of machine lubrication oils and other shop fluids.
• Clean and maintain coolant sumps in accordance with established procedures.
• Collect chips drain coolants and dispose of production waste in designated containers and areas.
• Update scheduled maintenance logs for dust collection systems CNC machines and other equipment as required.
• Set up and operate saw-cutting equipment according to process sheets work instructions and established safety procedures with minimal supervision after training.
• Maintain and clean dust collection systems and associated equipment.
• Perform routine cleaning and basic maintenance of CNC equipment and surrounding work areas.
• Read and follow work orders travelers blueprints sketches process sheets and production schedules to determine material requirements cutting locations dimensions tolerances and other job specifications.
• Inspect work areas daily including the production floor offices restrooms and exterior areas for spills trash debris and other housekeeping issues and take appropriate corrective action.
• Remove chips from machines empty them into the appropriate designated bins and prepare chip bins for scheduled recycling pickups.
• Maintain a clean organized and safe work environment in accordance with company safety procedures and 5S standards.
• Follow all company safety quality environmental and housekeeping procedures.
• Communicate job status material shortages equipment issues or other production concerns to the appropriate supervisor or lead.
• Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by management.
Skills Knowledge and Experience:
• 0–1-year general maintenance with some minor general repairs experience.
• Previous experience of performing general cleaning and basic maintenance is preferred.
• Strong attention to detail with exceptional organizational skills.
• Ability to multi-task prioritize and work independently is essential.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
